Membership
Cost: Tour membership is FREE. All tour events will have a $5 administrative fee taken from the Event fee to cover the cost of processing results and running the Tour. Event fees, which includes admin fee, will be accrued throughout the month and be processed at the end of each month. Fees will be processed automatically to your credit card. Event fees are only charged when you play and turn in a scorecard for an Event.
Monthly Minimun: A $5 fee will be accessed to all golfers who have not played and turned in a scorecard for that month. If you play in at least one Event per month no minimun fees will be charged.
Terms: No Commitment Required.
Tour Structure: Tour is divided into 3 event categories:
- Weekly Events, Major Events, and a Tour Championship.
- Weekly events are organized at our participating courses where golfers compete for cash prizes. Weekly event entry fees are $10 (in addition to green fees). We handicap all golfers with a modified USGA system.
- Major events are $50- $500 entry fee events and held once a quarter. Qualification is required by placing in the top 10% of a weekly event with a minimum of 10 golfers and playing at least 5 Tour events. FootWedge Tour has the right to refuse eligibility if handicap is in question.
- Tour Championship is held once a year and is open to all golfers who have finished in the top 10% of a weekly event. Tour championship is a two-day tournament. Entry fees will vary by region and year.
Event Format
- Each FootWedge Tour event is structured as a separate event. Currently all tour events are week long events being played at two different courses per week.
- Prize money will be paid out to the top 1/3, plus ties, of each event.
- Golfers must play with at least one other Tour member to be eligible to post an event score.
- All events are played by the USGA rules of golf.
- Each golfer records their partners score and statistics from their group. At the end of each hole, members must consult playing partner to make sure that the scores and statistics were recorded properly for each golfer.
- Each Scorecard must be signed by all golfers in the group before they are submitted to the golf course staff.
- Events will be stroke play using an unofficial USGA handicapping index for each golfer. Handicap index and course handicap will be used to figure a net total score for the event. All winnings are based on net score.
Event Registration:
- Each event is posted at the EVENTS section of this website. We are currently playing week long events. All golfers who participate in an event will be competing against all golfers who have played the event course during designated week. All scores will be compiled at the end of the week Sunday night and be counted as one event.
- Members register for each event by calling the event golf course and requesting a tee time. Golfers can play anytime of day and any day of the week.
- Golfers are required to have a minimum of one other Tour members in their group. If you are a single golfer we have a members forum that you can access from your player profile page to meet and pair up with other Tour members.
Handicapping
There are two tiers to the handicapping structure: one is for establishing a handicap before 10 recorded Tour scores, and the second tier is for handicapping after 10 Tour scores.
Establishing Handicaps:
- On the membership application, record lowest round played. This low score listed on application will create a handicap range of plus and minus six (+/-6).
- Handicap will be created after first event score, no greater than +6 the score listed on the application.
- If a score is lower than -6 your handicap range score before you have posted 10 Tour event scores, you will be disqualified from winnings for that event. That score will then be added into your handicapping formula and become your new baseline for the handicapping range. (Preventing Cheating)
- In addition, any score recorded less then the score listed on the application will become the new baseline score used for your +6 and -6 handicap range.
- FootWedge Tour will use an unofficial USGA formula for handicapping indexes and course handicaps.
- First event will be played with no handicap.
Example: If a golfer posts 90 on the application and then shoots 80 during one of his first 10 events, then he will be disqualified from that event’s winnings and his new baseline will be +/- 80
Example: If he posts 90 on application and then shoots 85, he may collect winnings but a new baseline will be +/- 85 replacing the application score of 90.
Handicap after 10 scores:
- After ten scores, there will no longer be a handicapping range. We will use an unofficial USGA handicapping index format with course handicapping for each event.
Score Disputes
If there is a dispute in the ruling of a particular shot, the order of ruling is as such:
- First, if there is unanimous consent among the group on the ruling to be played, then play that shot with no further inquires.
- Second, if there is not total agreement on the ruling, then play a second ball and record both scores. At the end of the round consult the local PGA pro at that golf course; he will make a ruling on the dispute and the score will be recorded, as such.
- If a course staff member can not be found, then by default, golfer must take the higher of the two scores in dispute.
Custom Scorecards
Custom scorecards are distributed to every golfer at each Tour event in order to track the five Tour statistics, which are the following:
- Fairways in Regulation*--Hitting tee shot in fairway on Par 4 or Par 5 Hole.
- Greens in Regulation--Hitting green with tee shot for Par 3's, 2nd shot for Par 4's, or third shot for Par 5's.
- Putts per Round--Total # of putts recorded hole by hole.
- Sand Saves*--Hitting out of greenside bunker & saving Par or better.
- Scrambling*--Missing green in regulation but saving Par or better. (Attempt will be assigned if "Greens in Regulation" circle is not completed).
*For each statistic per hole, there will be an attempt circle in top left-hand corner and a executed circle in the bottom right-hand corner. Fill in the top left-hand circle every time there is an attempt and the bottom right-hand circle only if attempt is successful.
- Proper completion of scorecard is necessary in order to compile your statistics correctly.
Prizes
FootWedge Tour is a cash prize tour. Entry fees are collected from all who participate in events with the exception of a golfers first event. Golfers playing in their first event are not subject to winnings and therefore will be exempt from the purse portion of the entry fee. Golfers will still be charged the $5 administration fee. Purses will vary depending on the number of entries per event. Purse will be paid out to top 1/3 plus ties for each event. Entry fees will be charged by FootWedge Golf Tour to golfer’s credit card on file after event has been played. Each entry fee will be subject to the credit card processing cost, no greater than $1.
Amateur Status
By participating in events for cash prizes, golfers are subject to losing official USGA status as amateur. If you would like to maintain your amateur status and still play competitive golf, you must designate on the application you are remaining an amateur; yearly earnings will be capped at $750 to be paid in gift certificates.
Membership Cancellation
Golfers may email Tour staff from the “Contact Us” page at http://www.footwedge.com to request to be removed from active members list if you know that you will not be playing in any Tour Events in the near future.
You may always activate your account if you wish to begin play again.
